Court rules
A few ground rules to keep in mind.
1-hour slots, 6am to 9pm
All bookings are in 1-hour slots. The first slot of the day starts at 6am; the last starts at 8pm and ends at 9pm. The same court can’t be booked twice for the same slot — if you want longer than an hour, book the next slot too.
Two courts
We have two courts. They’re independent — one can be booked while the other is free.
Getting here & parking
Parking is on Pavilion Road, by the courts. There are no facilities on site, so please come prepared.
Members must book a slot too
Booking is how you get your gate code — and it reserves the court for your hour, so no one can double-book it. Members must book before arriving, just like everyone else. Bookings take 10 seconds at bestwoodtennis.org/book and are free for members.
No dogs
We love dogs — just please leave them at home.
No bicycles or scooters
No riding bikes, scooters, or anything with wheels on the courts. Wheelchairs and mobility scooters are of course exempt.
Keep it clean
Please leave the courts the way you found them and take any rubbish away with you.
Gate code
The court gate has a keypad padlock. When you book a slot you get a gate code for that slot — shown on screen and emailed to you. It works for your booked hour (from about 15 minutes before), so there’s no need to arrive early. Your code is for your booking only — please don’t pass it on.
Gate safety
Do not lock the gate while you are on court. Please only lock the gate when you are the last person leaving. Never lock the gate if someone is still on court.
Proper tennis footwear
Tennis shoes or trainers only — no football boots, studded shoes, or bare feet. Studs damage the court surface and are dangerous on hard courts.
Tennis only
The courts are for tennis only. No cycling, skateboarding, or ball games other than tennis.
Children under 14
Children under 14 must be accompanied by a responsible adult on the courts.
Consideration for neighbours
Please keep noise to a reasonable level, especially early morning and evening. The courts sit close to homes.
Wet or icy conditions
In wet conditions, play at your own risk. Don’t play if the courts are flooded or icy — the surface is slippery and the play damages it.
Report damage
Spotted broken nets, damaged surface, or anything that needs fixing? Email play@bestwoodtennis.org and the committee will take a look.
Liability
The club accepts no responsibility for loss, theft, or injury on the premises. Use of the courts is at your own risk.
